A warm weather public service

Summer has reached the midwest as the temperature has hit the mid 90's both yesterday and today. Here at Chez Malaise that means gin season!

I recently discovered the Simply line of juices and drinks. All natural and delicious I thought they'd make super summer cocktails, and they do.

Today's riff on the classic G-N-T is:
-1 part Bombay Sapphire (life is way too short to drink bad gin)
-1 part tonic (Brett buys diet and it seems just fine)
-3 parts Simply Limeade

Stir and garnish with a lime wedge. I forgot to buy a lime so my drink is naked, but still tasty.

I occasionally buy a Simply Lemonade at lunch and it too is delicious. I'm thinking next weekend we'll try that with plain old vodka or Absolut Citron and a splash of Sprite or some other bubbly mixer.

Bill is here tiling (photos later!) and I've got a pleasant buzz while I tidy up the kitchen. Yay weekends!

Time to break out the Pimms, a bit of Simply sauce and a touch of Sprite

Raina, they also make an orange pineapple juice. I'm thinking rum and something, maybe with ice in the blender.

Toad, I love Pimms, with soda and a lemon twist, and a cucumber spear if I'm feeling fancy!

Ah Bombay Sapphire. I knew you were a man of good taste!

yes -love limeade and the simply brand. I guess your drink is more sort of a gimlet - gin and lime -right? I'll have to try that although I think I'll do 1/2 gin and 1/2 limeade. Does that make me an alcoholic? LOL

excellent idea to make this heat more tolerable! but chase it with some water or else double duty dehydration the following morning.

Craig, one drink was all it took and I never ordered Tanqueray again. It really is markedly better.

Stefan, it is a gimlet of sorts, I hadn't thought about it. And that ratio doesn't make you an alcoholic, it makes you fun to meet for drinks.

Soodie, in my little circle we call those glasses of water "spacers," they make things so much easier the next morning!
