Greek Chorus

My designer friend Rich just bought a new apartment, and on his to-do list is new drapes. He's planning to go with white, in linen I believe, with the leading edge trimmed with a band of black and white greek key.

Similarly, I've been searching for the Flintridge Greecian Key salad/luncheon plates shown at right to mix in with my austerely beautiful, ornament-free, Bellmere place settings. (Coupe/Plat, no color band, platinum, in case you've got some you're wanting to unload)

While scouring eBay for the plates (which rarely appear, and never under 30 bucks apiece), I discovered that Heisey produced a line of glassware and serving pieces in a greek key pattern as well. I fear a coming obsession, but so far have resisted the urge to bid on anything. That said, if another ice bucket comes up I cannot be held responsible for my actions.

Then yesterday, Eddie Ross and Habitually Chic posted about their weekend flea market expedition. One of HC's scores was a box of Heinrich & Co china. What did it look like? Simple and white, with a band of greek key in gold, I think it's stunning.

So what about you, living with any greek key? And if you are, what and where?

Hi David! I have been seeing you around blogland lately, so thought I'd stop in! I like your blog very much. And yes! I hate to admit it, but I bought the Pottery Barn Greek Key trimmed drapery panels for my daughter's room. We still have not put them up, but perhaps this weekend. I hope they aren't too "mass produced" looking. Anyway...thought I'd stop in and say "hi"!

Hi Katie, thanks for stopping in! I don't care where anything comes from, all I care is that it looks good. When you've got them installed let me know how they turn out!

No Greek key but I've seen those P.B. drapes (I think on Katie's blog ha ha) and they look great. I have always liked it and oddly never had it.

I just checked out H.C.'s gold trimmed dishes - beautiful!

Hi, David: I saw your comment on Mrs. Blandings's blog first; then my daughter mentioned that she met a furniture restorer/painter at a poker game last week. I said she mentioned that I also painted furniture. She later told me your name, and I've put the two together and I think you are the same person. If not, I apologize. Love the blog and your ideas. I'm out of the furniture painting business, at least for now, but still painting. Someday I might go back and do some of my own furniture I have stashed away. In the meantime, did I see that you have a booth somewhere. I would love to come see your things and visit with you.

Hi David, looks great. Love your painted tables. Wish you'd come here and paint some stuff around here. How many days before Paris???

Hi Mary, thanks for dropping by. I wish it were me, but I haven't played poker in I don't know how long. I used to play blackjack and pai gow poker with some regularity at the casino, but between saving for an upcoming trip and trying to get my furniture biz going, I've been neglecting my gambling!

My space is up in the loft at Mission Road. If you take the stairs by the restaurant up, I'm in the room on your right, and the first booth on the right. It's an odd space and I'm never overly thrilled with my merchandising and display, but I do what I can. Finding me there is hit and miss, but if you're there on a Sunday afternoon, definitely look for me, that's often when I go.

David, I have been to Greece and some of the Isles twice. I have a n amazing gold necklace with this greek key design and love it, it is so classic. I would love to add the design to a little table like the ones you have been finding lately.
