Shelving choices

I've been looking for a pair of bookshelves to flank the opening between the living and dining room. Its been surprisingly hard to find something simple, in a material I like, in the size I need. I think these parsons towers from West Elm are pretty good in the walnut finish and they're the perfect size.

Here's the question for those of you who see these types of things: Have you seen something similar in glass and steel?

Have you looked at the Burton shelf from Room and Board?

I actually think the wood is a better choice, especially if it is going to be in the same area as your antique wooden screen

Shelves are so hard to find affordably, I really have no idea! It's really a problem with me as I have so many big and heavy books. My shelves are literally breaking apart and held together on the sides (of the shelves) with duct tape. Luckily it's not visible but I KNOW it's there and it drives me CRAZY!

Take a look a http://mynottinghill.blogspot.com/ who used the Ballard Sonoma bookcase. Has wood. Has metal.
