(Sheet) Rock on!

Ah, the smell of construction. Too-tiny closet gone, too narrow door widened to normal human size. All new electrical placed and wired, Lutron switches with integral dimmers ready for installation when the drywall is finished.

And here's the new and improved bay, minus the old desk, plus the beginnings of the new window seat. Also gone is one oddly placed outlet and the 1952 4-prong phone jack. New recessed light here as well, switch around the corner in the bay for uncluttered sightlines from the door.

Tape and mud start tomorrow morning!

That bath wallpaper is really something.

It's a bad chinoiserie, sort of a blue and brown on dirty silver. Can't wait to replace it with some white marble, which is something since you know I love me some chinoiserie. Or "chinese-ey" and Brett and I like to say...

I'm lovin' watching the changes happen . . . I was a big fan of This Old House. But just wondering - what's behind the drywall on either side of your new window seat? Dead air? Wouldn't it make the bedroom bigger if you just eliminated those two walls?

Of course, you wouldn't have a window seat then . . . which is a totally cool idea. The whole Jane Eyre thing, you know.

Or couldn't that space, if it is empty, be used for closets/ storage? Just curious.

Hey Russ, glad you're enjoying the long and dusty show =)

If you're facing the window seat, on your left behind the wall is the master bedroom.

On the right it looks like there would be dead space but because of how that end of the bedroom bumps out it's not. If the yard drys up this week I'll try to take some shots from the outside.

It is much more fun to watch them come alive on my screen than live through it. Looks like you are going to have great light in here. How wonderful.

HBD: One of the things that sold us on the house is the windows. This bedroom has windows on 3 walls, the second has windows on two, and the master has a large corner window. There are 4 pictures windows total in the public areas of the house, two windows and a pair of french doors in the kitchen.
