King of the Crock Pot

With the hellish cold weather we've had all week, Kamikaze Chef (me) pulled out the electric skillet and the crock pot and went to work on comfort food.

So far we've had beef stew and chili. Today I made a basque chicken stew (tomatoes, red and green peppers, olives) that we'll have tomorrow. Currently in the pot for later this week is a beef and mushroom soup.

Who needs a stove?!

Since our corner of the prairie as well has been suffering from single digits, we've been having the same comfort food -- chili, soups (the neverending soup pot makes for a great lunch), and today, it is the chuck roast slow cooked in the oven with vegetables.

The basque chicken sounds interesting -- may have to see about it for this week!

I have never owned a crock pot. What does that say about me?

I can tell you I have only had my stove on about twice a year since in my condominium. What does that tell you about my lifestyle!! I should get out and dust off my crock pot, as I should be eating much better than I am!

Sounds cozy and good to me. I donated my crockpot because it took up so much space. Now, I'm regretting it...

i just did a pork roast in our crock pot -- just a little seasoning and garlic and yum cooking in its own juices. terrible to admit, but we didn't even wait to put it on plates. we just started to slice it up and eat it from the warm pot.

Oh how I love pork, not wasting time on plating just means it's good, there's no shame.

I've found a recipe on allrecipes.com for crock pot pulled pork, you basically braise it in root beer, drain, crumble and add BBQ sauce. I'm totally tempted.

I have to admit to LOVING my crockpot (i have a red one) -just last night I made grapefruit chicken with veggies in it - so easy and delicious! nothing like a slow cooker.

I bought the all-clad slow cooker because in redo world most of my kitchen will be open shelving and I am vain enough I wanted it to look good! I love this thing. It's a gardener's best friend...or a home project leader's best friend. Little effort, healthy and hearty. I'm sure the smells drive your dogs nutsoid!
